Therapeutic photography is an approach to photography that provides clients with a healing experiencing. This experience comes from the way that the photographer holds the ‘container’ of the photoshoot. The methods and tools taught in this workshop will equip photographers with the basic principles of therapeutic photography so that they may begin to deepen their own relationship to the healing power of their craft.
Note to participants: This is an entry level workshop and a prerequisite for therapeutic photography apprenticeship and does not equip students with enough knowledge to offer therapeutic sessions.
Details: This workshop is divided into two parts. The first will be in a studio setting (East Vancouver) and the second will be in nature (Pacific Spirit Park). Each workshop is 3-4 hours in length and will include learning and shooting time.
The first Workshop will cover core principles of embodiment, activating the storyteller’s lens, and trauma-informed care. The second workshop will deepen into the idea of creative ceremony, ritual practice and protocol, earth connection and portraits as healing portals.
