WHAT IS EMBODIMENT PHOTOGRAPHY?
Embodiment photography is a therapeutic photography approach that prioritizes somatic awareness, authentic expression, and reconnection with the body over conventional aesthetic standards.
Rather than imposing external beauty ideals or creating images for social consumption, embodiment photography:
✺ Guides people into deeper relationship with their bodies through the creative act of being photographed
✺ Uses the camera as a tool for presence, awareness, and self-discovery rather than performance or perfection
✺ Creates brave space for vulnerability, authentic expression, and threshold crossing
✺ Honors the body's wisdom and instinctual knowing as primary sources of creative direction
✺ Works somatically — meaning we track sensations, emotions, and energy in the body rather than focusing purely on visual outcomes
✺ Addresses visibility wounds — the shame, fear, and trauma many people (especially women) carry around being seen
✺ Transforms photography from a potentially triggering or performative experience into a healing and reclamatory practice.
As photographers we hold an essential roles in cultural regeneration.
In an era where AI and social media flood us with disembodied imagery that perpetuates self-abandonment, embodiment photography offers medicine: it reconnects us to the somatic imagination—where mythic, archetypal images live inside our bodies, waiting to be witnessed and expressed.
Embodied Portraits are a transmission of this healing.

Hi, I am Jenny. I have been guiding women into a deeper relationship to their bodies and their authentic expression through embodiment photography for a decade. This journey began when I picked up Women Who Run With The Wolves and my own longing to be seen and known in my authentic truth, came alive. I have since worked with 200+ women.
This workshop series is the culmination of 10,000+ hours of creative practice with hundreds of women. I am excited to be teaching this work so that it can bring more depth of healing to the world of photography and beyond.
